Whalers, Jets, continue winning ways in TWHL

SAMRONG: The Klong Toey Whalers and Din Daeng Jets continued their winning ways Sunday night in the D' Pelican Fall Classic Hockey League. In the first game, the Whalers avenged an opening-night loss to the Ratchada Coyotes, thumping the expansion team 7-2; while, the evening's second contest saw Din Daeng improve its record to 3-1 with a 6-1 thrashing of the Sukhumvit Stars.     

               Pasit Jirachai continued his hot scoring streak tapping home four goals for the Whalers including an empty-netter in the final minute to lead the Whalers. Khun "Tar" became one of the few players in league history to score four goals in a game. Devin Keer, Stephen Sproule, and Todd Switzer added singles for Klong Toey while Dave Anderson earned his first win tending goal in the TWHL. Down 6-2 going into the third period, Ratchada mounted a fierce comeback and narrowed the difference to 6-4 on goals by Vladimir Prochazka (one of three he scored on the night) and Krit Rattapong before Tar iced the victory for the 3-1 Whalers.            

               In the second match, the Din Daeng Jets, in search of their first Chao Phraya Cup, won their third game of the young season defeating the Stars 6-1 in a one-sided contest. Jouni Heinonen returned to the ice for the Stars and was one of the few bright spots for Sukhumvit scoring a beautiful goal on a breakaway on a nice set-up from David Blomquist. Original Jet Michael White hit the back of the net three times for Din Daeng while Alasdair Fawcett, Jiri Vlk and Tewin "Thor" Chetsuwan added singles giving Thomas Doucet the victory in net for Din Daeng.
