BNH blast Penalty Spot; Roadhouse rout Pelican

SAMRONG : The BNH Hospital Blades took down the
high-flying Penalty Spot Slammers in Thai-World Hockey League action
Sunday, beating the league-leaders 4-3 and ending their seven-game unbeaten streak.

Game one was a blowout as the Roadhouse Smokers pummeled the
D'Pelican Inn Flyers 8-1 thanks largely to the offensive domination of
Thai pivot Tawin Chartsuwan, who took over the TWHL's scoring lead with
a four-point night.

The Blades (5-7-0) jumped out 2-0 early as captain Todd Switzer
banged in a loose puck in front, and Alasdair Fawcett scored on a
similar play.

In the third period, Switzer blasted a shot that rang off the post
and went to Vanchalerm Rutthapong who one-timed the puck into the
yawning cage for the game-winner. Joey Lamantia also scored and
assisted.

Captain Geoff McIntyre fired a quick shot from the slot into the
corner in the dying minutes for the Slammers (9-3-1), and Chantapong
Tengsakul and Pasit Jirachai also tallied.

Blue-liner Peter Borjesson skated into the zone and blazed a shot
past the Flyers netminder on the opening shift, and the Smokers (7-4-1)
never looked back.

The Flyers (4-9-0) could not contain Tawin, who finished with two
goals and two assists, as did teammate Rob Taylor. The Thai National
team star leads the league with 17 goals and 11 assists in 11 games.

Craig Noon notched two goals and rookie Pierre-Marc Chouinard
rounded out the Smokers scoring. Defenceman Anun Kulligan tallied for
the Flyers.
